Charlie did it!
My old street performing buddy Charlie caper has just won Talang – (Sweedens got Talent). If you look at the footage you can see his progression through the competition and I think it’s interesting to see that his magic, (in my opinion), gets weaker and yet the audience love him more each time.
He gained so much credibility by performing such a strong set in the heats and established his character and his theme, (the bow-tie) that the hard work was done. The set in the final wasn’t his best, (still better than the majority of working professionals), but it was consistent with what had gone before – people liked him and they were comfortable with him. The magic became a secondary element in the overall performance and character won through. Charlie is a great guy and a great performer and he has just demonstrated that simple, (not easy), magic is capable of winning over a nation. The difficult part, the part that makes the difference, is being a great guy and a great performer.
